Your mission

Design and develop load handling solutions. Manage projects from concept through testing and drive them to completion. Prepare models and detailed drawings using 2D/3D design software for assemblies and parts. Create installation package drawings, hydraulic and/or electrical schematics. Lead design reviews. Provide engineering support to sales, shop and field personnel as required.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Service, Installations, Sales and Marketing on new or revised applications. Investigate applications and make design changes when required. Be proactive in listening to customer requirements and needs and work to find the best possible solution for that particular application
• Support Service, Installations, Sales and Marketing to resolve customer problems related to the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of the products. Work with Hiab functional areas to resolve customer issues as required with effective communication to all areas
• Accurately maintain all engineering design and test documentation. Included are all Sales and Installation Packages, decal drawings, and load charts and other documentation as required
• Understand and ensure design follows all applicable laws, meet customer specifications and safety requirements
• Maintain an acceptable performance on Engineering Change Request (ECR) processing and backlog
• Participate in the development and refinement of engineering computer aided tools and general capabilities to improve the Engineering department performance
• Perform mathematical calculations for design including stability and load calculation

What we are looking for

• B.S. Mechanical Engineer or equivalent degree/experience required
• Three or more years experience in a similar field with truck equipment industry preferred
• Experience with weldments, sheet metal, hydraulics, lean manufacturing concepts, all preferred
• Proficient in 3D CAD design; SolidWorks a plus
• Knowledge of DC power systems and hydraulics a plus
• Proven mechanical design capabilities with consideration for bending, shear, torsion, and buckling
