Purpose of the position

 

  • Acts as primary point of contact for selected processes, which include indirect tax accounting/returns, personal property tax, fixed assets, coordination of month-end system balancing/closing, audits, 1099 filing, environmental reporting, census reporting
  • Provide support for roles in the area of local Country Finance and Controllership
  • Responsible for administration and updating/maintaining of data within Vertex and Sage
  • Participate in process improvement projects to ensure appropriate tax assessment
  • Participate/lead cross trainings of business staff related to US indirect tax
  • Handling ad-hoc/audit requests on a timely manner
  • Follow internal control procedures and all accounting policies in accordance with CAS and internal control framework
  • Building supportive relationships with peers and colleagues

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • 65%  Provide tax accounting services: deliver services in line with agreed controls and procedures; ensure that data is accurate in company systems; recognize unusual events and work with supervisor to resolve the case
  • 20%  Comply with internal control procedures and tax accounting policies in compliance with US tax practices; ensure all the documentation is up-to-date and accurate
  • 15%  Provide cross training and back-up support for roles in the area of US RTR; handle ad-hoc requests
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager related to the areas of accountability
  • All work needs to be conducted in compliance with Global Company guidelines, code of conduct, policies, procedures, controls and legal requirements
  • Responsible for securing own and co-workers’ safety and health with all possible means and in compliance to law

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

 

Working experience:

 

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in US sales/use tax, asset management, finance operations

 

Skills and competencies:

 

  • Experience with simple to complex query handling
  • Good MS-office skills, ERP knowledge, Vertex, Sage
  • US indirect tax/asset management knowledge
  • Strong team player 
  • Problem solving attitude
  • To demonstrate analytical skills
  • Good Interpersonal & Communication Skills
  • Taking initiative in a proactive manner to improve own and team work practices 
  • Proficiency of written and oral English
