Purpose of the position

 

  • Responsible for source selection and the identification, tracking and implementation of cost saving actions to meet the year on year productivity targets for the respective category using global benchmarking in order to leverage spend and optimize purchasing synergy.  
  • Accountable to create, develop and execute sourcing activities to minimize total acquisition cost whilst maximizing sustainable and operational performance across Hiab to secure benchmark total cost of ownership as well as driving profitability and growth together with high levels of delivery and quality performance.
  • Manage all sourcing activities and secure demanding and complex multi-tier sourcing arrangements, promoting Supplier Relationship Management and early supplier involvement.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Identification, development and execution of the sourcing activities across whole-Hiab spend to optimize use of Hiab resources over the E2E product lifecycle addressing strategic commercial sourcing requirements, supplier preferencing, securing early focus on service and end-of-life requirements, supplier consolidation and pipeline to secure continuity of supply and emerging business needs
  • Successful cross-functional participation in New Product Development, Supplier relationship Management (SRM), early supplier involvement and selection with technology development, productivity, total cost reduction make/buy programs, should-cost modelling, and business process and system implementation
  • Support new product development by taking ownership and leading all sourcing deliverables within own area of responsibility, inc. fulfillment of technical requirements, quality and delivery assurance deliverables
  • Lead the QAP process with support of Category Supplier Development
  • Manage and improve the Hiab-wide supplier performance using category supplier development resources and QDCI balanced scorecard methodology to monitor and improve performance across key metrics
  • Identifying, tracking and implementing cost saving actions to meet the year on year productivity targets for the category
  • Hiab-wide RFQ preparation, analysis and negotiation/business award according to delegation of authority
  • Develop open book costings, budgets and raw material forecasting for the suppliers within scope
  • Evaluate and develop the supply base. Introduce new suppliers as appropriate to meet the current and future needs of the business, at the same time ensuring continuous improvement in terms of cost, quality, delivery and new product introduction in a global environment
  • Close cooperation with supply planning to support capacity planning and scalability/flexibility planning via development of Logistics agreements
  • Identification and development of new manufacturing partners within BCC countries to support current and future needs of the business
  • Commercial participation in supplier assessments in conjunction with Supplier Development
  • Promote and secure supplier participation in Hiab Supply Chain Finance programs
  • Define and reach targets for Quality, Delivery, Cost, Innovation in the category
  • Services Strategy Execution including branding to increase capture rate and spare part revenues
  • Contract negotiation including payment term, quality/warranty/logistics annexes and raw material indices
  • Development of supplier risk mitigation programs to ensure minimized disruption within category and business line
  • Provide support to escalate, drive recovery plans and resolve supplier quality/delivery issues using root cause analysis tools & methodology to ensure production requirements are secured
  • Adherence to and maintenance of all relevant Purchasing processes and systems, in line with Central Sourcing and Group Policy

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:

 

  • Degree Level or equivalent, with relevant engineering and/or industrial experience

 

Working experience:

 

  • At least 3 years of relevant global industrial experience (truck, construction machines, mining, agriculture or automotive)
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in sourcing roles in an international and multi-site company
  • Experience in working with large suppliers with global multi-site footprint and managing supplier relations and negotiations
  • Project management, cross-functional improvement teams and supplier development programs
  • Experience in using ERP systems (Preferably LN.10)
  • Experience in complex steel assemblies/hydraulic systems/electrical & electronics preferred 

 

Skills and competencies:

 

  • Excellent knowledge in sourcing methods; supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, analytical skills and legal/contractual knowledge
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a business-driven and fact based approach towards suppliers with a focus on building long-term relationships
  • Excellent communication, cooperation and influencing skills when working with different senior level roles internally within Hiab and externally with different suppliers
  • BCC/LCC Sourcing in EMEA and APAC
  • Senior level contract and commercial negotiation
