Product Support Engineer & Trainer

Your mission

Are you the technical expert who not only solves complex issues, but also has a passion for sharing knowledge? 

At Hiab—the global market leader in load handling equipment—we are looking for a Product Support Engineer & Trainer for 40 hours a week. You will be based at our branch in Meppel, the Netherlands.

As a Product Support Engineer & Trainer, you form the technical heart of our organization and report directly to the Team Lead Service Support. Your role strikes a great balance between providing high-quality technical support and delivering training sessions. 

Key responsibilities

• Supporting customers, dealers, and service centers with technical inquiries and issues—on-site, over the phone, and via remote support
• Advising internal departments on the sales and installation/assembly of our cranes and demountable systems
• Developing and testing customer-specific solutions, such as custom PLC control systems
• Preparing quotations for modifications or overhauls of cranes and demountables, as well as managing product recalls
• Feeding field experience back to our manufacturing facilities to drive continuous structural improvements locally and globally
• Planning, developing, and delivering technical training sessions for employees, managers, and dealers in the Netherlands and Belgium
• Creating work instructions and training documentation
• Providing clear delivery instructions during the handover of HIAB products.

What we are looking for

• Relevant qualification at the Dutch higher vocational (HBO) or upper secondary vocational (MBO level 4) level
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a simialr role
• Broad and in-depth technical knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, PLC technology, vehicle technology, and mechanics
• Strong instructional skills to convey knowledge effectively and enthusiastically
• Strong analytical thinking skills, numerical and cost-conscious insight, and knowledge of business processes
• Excellent skills with PCs, remote support software, and measuring equipment
• Fluent/Native Dutch language, both written and verbal and good command of the English language. French language skills are considered an advantage.
